This week, the Madeira Agricultural Rum was particularly evident in Germany, during the 14th edition of the Bar Convent Berlin Fair, through a masterclass, organized by the Madeira Wine, Embroidery and Handicraft Institute (IVBAM).
The Bar Convent Berlin, which had around 9,000 visitors, is one of the main international fairs in the bar and beverage industry, as it brings together renowned brands side by side, providing an enriching experience for visitors and professionals looking for new business opportunities. The Madeira Rum Masterclass addressed various topics on Madeira Agricultural Rum, including geography, the region's climatic conditions, the sugarcane varieties cultivated in the Region, the method of production and aging and the know-how accumulated over centuries of the following producers: Sociedade dos Engenhos da Calheta; Florentino Izildo Ferreira – O Reizinho; J. Faria & Filhos - Engenhos do Norte; and William Hinton - Engenho Novo da Madeira. The masterclass speaker was Ian Burrell, known for being the global rum ambassador, currently one of the world references in the sector, who shared his experiences and knowledge of Madeira Rum with everyone present at the event. It should also be noted that Ian Burrel, in 2018, was present at the II Madeira Rum Festival, having visited all the Madeira Rum producers. 85% of this action was co-financed by community funds provided by the Madeira 14-20 Program, with the remaining amount supported by the regional budget.
