The Madeira Wine, Embroidery and Handicraft Institute (IVBAM, IP-RAM), takes the privacy and protection of its users’ data very seriously.

This policy (“Policy”) sets out the terms according to which IVBAM – whose identity and contact details are available at the end of this Policy – processes any personal data that it collects from you or that is provided to us when you use the Madeira Rum website, the time and purpose for the collection, the form of use, the conditions under which we may disclose it to third parties and how we keep it safe.

Please read it carefully in order to understand our practices.

The website guarantees privacy and security when dealing with data provided by the user through the rum producer’s registration forms or through the request form for a visit from journalists. Only data that is strictly necessary for the purposes for which it is intended and to provide the necessary support and assistance is requested. Any person or entity whose data has been collected has the right to access it, as well as to request its rectification, updating or erasure, without prejudice to the other rights legally conferred on the data subjects.

As an integral part of our privacy policy, we undertake the following commitments for the benefit of users of the site:

Process the data in a legal and reliable manner, collecting only the data necessary and pertinent to the purposes for which it is intended; allow individuals or entities whose data has been collected to access and request rectification, updating or erasure of the stored data; we will not use the data collected for purposes incompatible with the purposes that determined its collection; we will keep the data accurate and, if necessary, current; we guarantee the user’s right to delete such data when requested and free of charge; we guarantee that we have security systems that prevent access, alteration, destruction or addition of data by persons not authorised to do so.

Any information provided by a user – even by email – is treated with respect for the legal principles and duties that govern and protect the personal data of any data subject. The data collected is used to establish a relationship with the user, answering their questions or other requests submitted.

The information collected will be used exclusively by IVBAM, allowing access to authorities or entities empowered to intervene in this area or for the public purposes for which they are intended (e.g. disclosure to economic agents).

As an integral part of the Site, there are links to third party sites (i.e. sites owned by entities or companies other than IVBAM) that we think may contain useful information. This privacy policy does not apply to these sites. If you want to get information about them, you should contact them directly.

The data collected is kept for the time strictly necessary for the purposes for which it is intended.
