Madeira Rum was in evidence at the sixth edition of the Lisbon Bar Show, through the delivery of a masterclass organized by IVBAM, IP – RAM.
In this Masterclass, which was led by Dr. Rubina Vieira, from IVBAM, IP – RAM, several themes were discussed on Madeira’s Agricultural Rum, namely a particular set of factors ranging from geography, geology, the climatic conditions of the Region, the varieties of sugar cane used in production, the method of production and ageing and the know-how accumulated over centuries, in addition to a commented tasting of Madeira Rum from the following producers: Sociedade dos Engenhos da Calheta, Florentino Izildo Ferreira – O Reizinho, J. Faria & Filhos – Engenhos do Norte and William Hinton – Engenho Novo da Madeira.
Note that the producers J. Faria & Filhos – Engenhos do Norte and William Hinton – Engenho Novo da Madeira were also present at the event, with their own stands.
The Lisbon Bar Show, which took place at Convento do Beato in Lisbon, is the “meeting point” for bar specialists, and was attended by the most prominent national and international bartenders, thus positioning it as a knowledge and networking platform, through which suppliers, brands, points of sale, bartenders, specialists and the public, in general, could be aware of what is done best in this area. It was possible to spend two days visiting around 100 exhibitors, participating in workshops and seminars, cocktail tastings and mixology demonstrations, while the main objective of the Lisbon Bar Show was to show the international trends in the sector, so the presence of Madeira Rum at this event was of the utmost interest and relevance.
The implementation of this action was co-financed in 85% by community funds under the Madeira 14-20 Programme, the remaining amount being borne by the regional budget.
