Madeira Rum reinforces internationalization

Madeira Rum will be promoted at Rhum Fest Paris, between May 4th and 6th, 2024, with the presence of four agricultural Rum producers from Madeira. This participation of the Madeira Rum sector arises through a guided action between the Madeira Wine, Embroidery and Crafts Institute (IVBAM) and the sector agents participating in the fair, namely, the companies: Engenhos do Norte, Engenho Novo da Madeira – William Hinton, Vinha Alta and Florentino Izildo Ferreira – O Reizinho.

Rhum Fest Paris is a reference event in the world of Rum, having received, in its last edition, in 2023, around 7,600 visitors, including 2,300 professionals, including importers, distributors and retailers, encompassing a total of 150 Rum brands, from 45 different countries. In this, which is its tenth edition, it returns to its usual location, the Parc Floral de Vincennes.

In addition to the rum tasting component, Rhum Fest Paris has a range of events that include seminars and masterclasses, in an energetic and bold atmosphere, which favors contact between producers and other participants, enhancing and reinforcing commercial ties vital to the growth of the sector.

With this action, IVBAM and the Madeira Rum producers participating in this action, aim to highlight the unique characteristics of Madeira Rum, the only Portuguese agricultural rum, which give it the status of Protected Geographical Indication, in a market closely linked to Agricultural Rum, through its colonies (Martinique, etc.).

The presence of the Madeira Rum sector in these types of events is of relevant importance for the promotion of this regional product of excellence, and, in global terms, the marketing of Madeira Rum has been increasing exponentially in terms of quantity and quality (sales of agricultural rum increased from 2 to 5.2 million euros in two years).
