Madeira Rum promoted in Lisbon

Madeira Rum will be present at the 22nd edition of the Fair “Encontro com Vinhos”, in Lisbon, which takes place in Lisbon, between the 6th and 8th of November 2021, at the Lisbon Congress Centre, in Junqueira.

Indeed, despite this being a wine event, Madeira Rum will have a prominent place in this edition, being present through a Masterclass with commented tasting, called “Rum da Madeira, the only Portuguese Agricultural Rum”. This Masterclass is promoted by the Madeira Wine, Embroidery and Handicraft Institute (IVBAM) and will take place on November 6th, at 6:30 pm.

The Masterclass will be supervised by Rubina Vieira, from IVBAM, and the competition will include one Rum from each Rum Producer in Madeira, namely: “Reizinho Branca 45% Special Edition” (Florentino Izildo Ferreira, O Reizinho), “Calheta Rum Natural” ( Sociedade dos Engenhos da Calheta), “William Hinton 6 Anos” (Engenho Novo da Madeira) and “970 Reserva 6 Anos” (Engenhos do Norte - J. Faria & Filhos).

After an edition in digital format, in 2020, this year's edition will return to the presential format, bringing a program full of dynamism, with more than 400 wines on stage, thematic tasting, conversations with Sommeliers and masterclasses.

The participation of IVBAM in this event is of great importance for the promotion of Madeira Rum, not only for the potential projection achieved in the most diverse audiences, taking into account the numbers presented in 2019 (more than 15 000 visitors) but also for the interest evidenced by the market in mainland Portugal in Madeira Rum, in which, comparing similar periods between 2019 and 2020, there was a growth in its sales of 13% in volume and 17% in value.

This action is part of the Promotional Plan for Madeira Rum, being 85% co-financed under the “Regional Operational Program for Madeira 2014-2020” and the remainder supported by the Regional Budget.
